Our mission is to transform Ireland into a country in which social enterprise is achieving the potential it has to benefit society, the economy and the environment; by consistently establishing commercial social enterprises.
GET Local Association was set up to achieve the green potential that social enterprise offers. By establishing and supporting social enterprises in the green economy GET Local Association is helping to bring about the sustainable revolution that is needed to secure our future.
The Association is currently establishing a multi-stakeholder co-operative called BiaBox; a low-carbon home grocery delivery service. Members place an online order for produce that is sourced from local and organic producers and manufacturers. They get a delivery of fresh, affordable, and healthy produce, to their home or workplace, via one of BiaBox’s efficient electric cargo trikes.
But BiaBox is more than just a grocery delivery service. The co-operative is delivering a whole solution that extends from recipe suggestions and nutritional information to financial reports and tips on how to reduce waste and cost. BiaBox is a model for sustainable and efficient food production and consumption.
The charity retail sector is worth over €900m in Ireland & the UK and is growing rapidly. The next frontier for charity's is the online marketplace.
Giving charities the means to efficiently sell online substantially increases their revenues and brings their costs down. The ripple effect is massive as charities can increase the positive impact they have on communities, people and planet.
